Carrie Slaymaker, M.A., CCC-SLP interviews John Consalvi, M.A., CCC-SLP, CEO of Lingua Health, about how his experiences in college helped him determine to pursue a career as a speech language pathologist. John discusses how learning about the opportunities to help people as an SLP ultimately led him to his career choice and to later start Lingua Health and the Bilingual SLP resource site Grupo Lingua. During one summer away from his undergrad, John volunteered at Camp Sign, a summer camp funded by the Chicago Hearing Society for children that were deaf. At Camp Sign, John discovered how fulfilling it was to work with children with disabilities and learned valuable lessons about therapy models that he uses in his career as an SLP.
