Linda Blair joined the entertainment industry at age 2, modeling for TV commercials, such as the Gulden's Mustard. By the time she was 12, Linda has appeared on over 75 TV ads and was featured in hundreds of magazines. In 1970, Blair made her acting debut in the movie "The Way We Live Now."

In 1973, at age 13, Linda Blair beat 600 hopefuls for the role of the possessed Regan in the award-winning movie "The Exorcist." For coveted role, Blair received an Oscar nomination for 'Best Supporting Actress' and a Golden Globe nomination for 'Most Promising Female Star.'

Years later, Linda Blair ranked #9 on the American Film Institute's "Villains list of the 100 years of The Greatest Screen Heroes and Villains."

After 'Exorcist,' Linda Blair appeared in several TV-movies, including the NBC "Born Innocent" and the 1975 "Sarah T...Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic." In 1976, she worked alongside Kirk Douglas in the ABC telefilm "Victory at Entebbe." Throughout the late 70s, Blair continued to win leading roles in over a dozen movies and straight-to-video films, but claimed back her throne to fame and earned a Saturn Award nomination for her work on the 'Exorcist' sequel "Exorcist II: The Heretic" in 1977.

The following year, Linda Blair starred in the Wes Craven NBC TV-movie "Stranger in Our House."

In 1983, Linda Blair delivered a breathtaking performance in "Savage Streets," as the LA girl turned vigilante after her younger mute sister got brutally raped. While Linda Blair has appeared in numerous films with roles similar to Exorcist (such as the 1989 movies "A Woman Obsessed" and "Witchery" as well as the 1990 Exorcist spoof "Repossessed), she also excelled in comedies such as the 1989 movie "Up Your Alley."




In 1996, Linda Blair played the reporter in Wes Craven's hit movie series "Scream." The following year, she made her Broadway debut in the 1997 revival of "Grease," where she played Lucy Lawless. Other recent work of Linda Blair include the movies "Hitters Anonymous," "The Powder Puff Principle," "Teddy Scares," "All Is Normal" and in the 2009 comedy "Imps".

In 2005, the show "Supernatural" invited Linda for the episode "The Usual Suspects," where she was given brief homage to her Exorcist fame.

Aside from acting, Linda Blair also owns her own clothing line called "Linda Blair's Wild West Collection." She has also written a book about veganism entitled "Going Vegan!"

Although many people assume that The Exorcist (1974) was American actress Linda Blair's film debut, she had actually been working in commercials since age six.

Blair was chosen from a field of 500 hopefuls for Exorcist because of her resemblance to the film's star, Ellen Burstyn. To the casual viewer, the film, which dealt with the Devil's possession of an innocent preteen girl, was hardly the sort of fare that any responsible parent would allow their child to appear in.

But the Exorcist's director, William Friedkin, was careful to prearrange the special effects (head turning around, bloody body wounds, vomiting green bile) with the least amount of danger or trauma for Blair.

From all reports, she handled the assignment like a trouper, though she balked at having her hair messed up for the purposes of the plot.

Blair was nominated for an Academy Award for her Exorcist work, but this campaign was scuttled when it was learned that, not only had the girl been extensively doubled by a dummy, but her horrendous "Satan" voice, explicit obscenities and all, had been dubbed by adult actress Mercedes McCambridge.

A major celebrity at 15, Blair was able for a while to parlay her Exorcist work into a series of demanding film and TV roles, most of which cast her as a much-abused victim. Her rape scene in the TV movie Born Innocent was so graphic that the network was forced to cut the scene when the film was rerun. In other appearances, Blair played a teen alcoholic, a kidnap victim, a heart-transplant patient on an endangered airliner, and her Exorcist role again in Exorcist II (1977).
