Hey I know you wanted Greg to respond to this, but Ive been in a similar situation before. If you really didnt mean to do that with your ex, you should tell her that it wasnt supposed to happen, and talk to the girl you wanted to be with. If your ex tries to start drama or trouble with the girl, then you gotta stick up for yourself, hope this helped
