About Me:

Founded by Thomas Lie-Nielsen in 1981, Lie-Nielsen Toolworks manufactures heirloom-quality hand tools for woodworkers. The company specializes in a wide variety of hand planes and specialty tools, as well as saws, spokeshaves, floats and chisels. Lie-Nielsen Toolworks also produces a collection of instructional DVDs, featuring several notable craftsmen in the industry. A considerable amount of meticulous hand labor goes into the manufacturing of each tool on the premises in Warren, Maine, and this attention to detail ensures these tools will be a pleasure to use for years to come.

In the last decade, the company has grown to 80 employees, including a separate wood shop in Waldoboro that produces handles and knobs for the tools as well as workbenches and shavehorses. Lie-Nielsen Toolworks is credited for bringing several new technologies to the plane-making process, including unbreakable ductile iron bodies, powder coating, and cryogenically treated steel blades.

Thomas Lie-Nielsen has built his reputation on a firm commitment to the highest quality in materials, workmanship and customer service. The Lie-Nielsen name is recognized and respected among woodworkers worldwide.

the new chisel plane video is very helpful for understanding the tool and setting it up. Thanks! One comment, if you use the tool the way Deneb shows it being used to trim the 1/2 blind Dove tail, you will tear out the leading edge of the pin board.

Thank you for for providing such great information. These videos are very helpful and extremely well produced. As such, the addiction factor is off the scale. Even worse than before. May we have another fix please?
