Renowned filmmaker/photographer Todd Cole and experimental art-punk duo No Age joined forces to create and document a unique performance for the band's song "Inflorescence." Cole and No Age were paired as part of a series of creative collaborations facilitated by the Levi's® Film Workshop, a temporary creative film production facility housed inside the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), Los Angeles.
Todd Cole and No Age are LA-based creative pioneers. Cole is a filmmaker and photographer, whose work has been exhibited internationally at galleries, museums and festivals and featured in publications ranging from the New York Times to i-D. No Age, the duo of Dean Spunt and Randy Randall, has been at the epicenter of the DIY art-punk scene in LA.
The No Age performance took place inside the Film Workshop, marking the close of the Film Workshop and celebrating MOCA's "Art in the Streets" street art exhibition, a groundbreaking show that saw over 200,000 visitors, breaking all attendances records in the museum's history.

Five Boroughs Foundation of Photography and the Hetrick-Martin Institute, two of the Workshop's non-profit partners, utilize photography as a means to engage, stimulate and help the kids of New York. We wanted to let HMI and FBFP each have a day at the studio to play around--to see how real photographers conduct a shoot, to learn how to use Leica's cameras, and (most importantly) to have a great time. With help from photographer Cass Bird, stylist Heidi Bivens, singer-songwriter Sky Ferreira, La Esquina restaurant, Will Sterns, Oleg Ilitchev and the wonderful young people for whom it was all about, some great photos and friends were made.

Perhaps no other Levi's® Photo Workshop collaborator personifies the idea of 'work' more than the IMPOSSIBLE Project. Founded in 2008 to salvage the medium of analog photography in the wake of Polaroid's closure, IMPOSSIBLE has essentially had to rebuild the beloved film from scratch. It's a slow, arduous process—but one that Dave Bias and Anne Bowerman (of IMPOSSIBLE USA) haven't shied away from at all. Jennifer Trausch and the 20x24 Studio, meanwhile, maintain and operate one of the only large-format Polaroid cameras in existence. It seems that the two instant film entities have much to offer one another, and IMPOSSIBLE is currently attempting to create its own brand of large-format instant film for 20x24's supercamera. Their futures would appear to be inextricably tied together, and the Levi's® Workshop is happy to have been a part of their story.
