About Me:
We help to reveal and remove the barriers that prevent underrepresented groups from achieving all they can from the classroom to the boardroom. These barriers include blatant and obvious obstacles, as well as those that are hidden and unconscious. Our work centers on the education programs and research.
SMASH -
The Summer Math and Science Honors Academy (SMASH) works with high achieving, low-income high-school students of color who are passionate about math and science. We provide them with rigorous courses that will prepare them to excel in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) fields. SMASH is currently held on the UC Berkeley and Stanford campuses, but is expanding to college campuses nationwide.
Research -
The research agenda at LPFI examines inequity in access and opportunity across K-12, Higher Education, and Workplace contexts in order to improve outcomes for underrepresented students, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
