Saving Childrens Lives is a documentary made for Leukaemia Research about the life saving minimal residual disease (MRD) test, a remarkable new treatment for children diagnosed with leukaemia.

The MRD test was pioneered by Leukaemia Research over 15 years and with £3 million of funding and is now being rolled out by the NHS as standard treatment for all children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), the most common form of childhood cancer.

The test allows doctors to tailor chemotherapy to suit each child so that those with more aggressive disease receive more treatment and those with less aggressive disease receive less treatment. This means that every child has a better chance of achieving cure while sparing more children, who do not need intensive chemotherapy, from its gruelling side effects.
