There's a better video of Hello Mary Lou out there. Better because unlike this one, it includes James Burton's great solo in the middle. Check it out if you can find it.

When I was in college about this time, there was a basketball player named James Dean. When he would score, the PA announcer would say his name: "James Dean..." and the crowd would then emulate the voice in this song that comes in: "Jaaames Dean...." This song always brings back that funny memory.

I had forgotten about this until today, when an oldies station was playing a Casey Kasem top 40 countdown from 1971, and this came on, and it all came back. I was in high school in '71, and the radio station that played this, and where Tom Clay was a DJ, mailed it out for free. I remember I calle...

I had forgotten about this lady till I stumbled onto this tribute. Now I remember how attractive and funny she was. I read DVDs are coming soon from the short-lived but hilarious "I'm Dickens He's Fenster." She was wonderful in that, and I'm eager to revisit it. How sad she died so young.

I was in high school at this time, and always carefully scanned the listings to make sure I never missed George Carlin guest starring on any show. I remember being in school the day of the program, all excited about George being on that evening. I remember these Flip Wilson appearances well.
