Lenny Toots Hoffman, in all actuality, was weaned on the musical stylings of mister Frank Sinatra. Imagine the shock and dread of Ma and Pa when he found a fascination with the zany antics of those long-haired rockers ALICE COOPER while barely in his teens. He began listening to the Top 40 Radio in 1971 expressly to hear Don McCleans' AMERICAN PIE but soon discovered the likes of Neil Young, Cat Stevens and Rod Stewart. In high school Lenny discovered bootleg 8-tracks, when ZIGGY STARDUST was unavailable he opted to purchase THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD by David Bowie. He took this music home and played it for his 8 year old brother, who would later help form the semial Cleveland punk band the Dissidents.
