The standout memory I've got of any gig is as an 18 year-old seeing Ian Anderson do his short version of 'Thick as a Brick' in Cardiff (Nov '74) during the War Child tour. Absolutely mesmeric! Such a talent; a private life, a temper and a collection of demons not unlike that other great Scot, John Martyn. Maybe it's just the poetic temperament that does for them. Women are beautiful, practical and pragmatic, but the majority of great romantics and artists always seem to be men.... RIP ...
