Just confirmed... LEGO officially announced today that the DesignByMe program is ending, though a revised version of the program is hinted to be in the works.

On the FAQ page regarding LEGO Universe's closure, one of the questions states that DesignByMe was recently ended as well. If DesignByMe hasn't already ended... I think this is a warning that it will end in the very near future.
