Traditional Irish music from two young up and coming musicians. One American, one Irish.
About Me:

This channel was originally set up to showcase the duo playing of Zac Leger (U.S.) and Stephen Doherty (Ireland). Along the way it has become almost an online journal of our musical lives, and videos of our playing, both solo, and with some of our favorite musicians. We continually update and there is much more to come, so keep watching!

Stephen Doherty comes from Foxford, Co. Mayo, in Ireland and has grown up steeped in the musical tradition. A multi-instrumentalist, he plays flute, whistles, button accordion, melodion (on which he has an All-Ireland gold medal), concertina, bodhran, drums, guitar and mandola. He is currently a member of Grada and travels all over Europe, the U.S. and beyond performing traditional music. http://www.myspace.com/step...

Zac Leger is one of the few Americans to have an All-Ireland piping medal. He also plays whistles, flute, guitars, bouzouki, banjo, mandolin, bodhran, accordion, Northumbrian smallpipes and various other odds and ends. He has played most recently with Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul as well as a host of other talented bands and performers. He currently lives in Los Angeles, CA, where he is a free-lance musician and teacher. More info and music @ http://www.myspace.com/zacl...

I have been looking to buy a set of pipes, but I am curios if you would recommend any pipe makeres from the east coast. Also I am a huge fan of Davy Spillane and was wondering if you knew what key note his pipes are tuned to because I love his music. Keep up all the great music Zac.

Hey Zac, I had a question that I felt you could best answer. I have played the Highland pipes for quite some time now, and am fairly good at them, I'm competing and whatnot. I am, however, extremely jealous of the sound of Uillean pipes and would love to learn them. What would the learning curve be on them and what should I expect?

Thanks for the great tunes at Phinney last night! I'm sure my neighbors are thrilled that I'm listening to Uilleann pipes at 8:30 AM. ;) Ah, hell with 'em...they could use some culture.

Cheers,

Molly
