Be careful to not grasp the head joint around the lip plate when putting the head into the body or adjusting the head, but grasp it on the main tube just below the lip plate. This will ensure that your lip plate will not get bent, and saves wear and tear on the riser.

The bell sound is fine. It just doesn't have a resonating chamber above it to capture all of the over tones, so all of the sound just flies out all over the place instead of being focused into one space before it is sent out.
