I LOVE music. I play drums, piano and some guitar. I mess around with any instrument I can get my hands on but I can't say I'm amazing at any of them. It's crazy because I used to be totally non musical. My parents tried putting me in a piano class when I was 8 but I hated it and quit shortly after. But at the age of 16 I was hit with a baseball bat in a fight. I was boxing some guy and got knocked the F-out from behind. I was hit in the lower back of my head (My visual cortex). It messed me up good. Now I have to avoid bright lights... I wear sunglasses in the car on cloudy days. I have all my screens (phone, TV's and PC's) dimmed down almost all the way. I was changed after that day. I'm completely different than I used to be, in the way I act and think. Now when I hear music I see movement. I also visualize lyrics instead of hearing them. It's hard to explain but I see words as events. And the beat makes movement that when I close my eyes look like barely visable ripples in water. Sounds cool... not really because I get distracted by the visions and its hard to pay complete attention to any words in music or otherwise. Sometimes I struggle at work because I have to write everything down or make it a vision so I don't forget. But I can't listen when I'm processing visions so people think I'm dumb and don't pay attention. So Now I've taken to writing most everything down. Thats why it's hard to memorize lyrics now because they're visions in my memory. I can see the entire song happen but when I try to remember lyrics all the words blend. All I hear is the tone and pitch of the voice, not the words. Crazy... but I feel like I have to play music now. Or like my mind always wants to. Oh, and its called Synesthesia. I have a mild condition since my visions are dark and not vivid. They look like if you were to watch a black and white movie on the big screen but having really dark sunglasses on that were foggy. I don't see a lot of detail, mostly outlines with the major characteristics there. So some lyrics trip me out. I see the things they say. But the movement and visions distract me more than anything. I like that it makes me want to play music. But I'm not like some people with Synesthesia. I didn't just suddenly start playing like a savant. I had to practice! And I'm ok but still not anything special. I can freestyle better than ever before. I freestyle constantly because I can't remember my written's so I really only can freestyle. Anyway, other than that I work, or I do a little kickboxing to stay in shape. I love to make music! I have 3 PC's I use with various programs. Like Adobe Audition, FL8, or trying to learn ProTools... Great fun! But I'm OCD, like I made one song 8 times over and then scraped it. I'm picky and won't put anything out til I'm 100% on it. So that will be in years to come. Keep it real, Peace!
