@gnarkillkicksass That's quite a statement. Look up the pay scales for Southwest and compare them to the other majors. Southwest is easily one of highest paying airlines in the United States, if not the highest.

@aizad3755 I am a commercial pilot (instrument rated, obviously [and have been totally disoriented in flight]). In my opinion, the aircraft gave the the pilots faulty and conflicting data. They most likely had no idea what was actually happening to the airplane until it was too late.

@flyhighj65 The "retard" call out will sound regardless of if the plane is configured to autoland or if the pilot is hand flying the airplane. It is just telling the pilot to pull the throttles back to idle. I agree, though, it is quite funny.

@MrJcmd62 The "never turn into a dead engine" theory is actually incorrect. As long as you have proper rudder control and aileron inputs and stay well above VMC the airplane will handle just fine regardless of which engine you turn into.

@AverageJoeNJ It all depends who you know and how much time you have really. Legally, yes, you will have all the required credentials to be an airline pilot (minus the type rating, of course), but you will probably not have enough total time to get hired by an airline immediately.

@ilovegoatsecks It's called the coffin corner...the higher you go, the more narrow it gets. Did you notice, though, that their groundspeed was over 400 knots? Groundspeed is the most accurate way to calculate how fast you're actually traveling.

@crackutoob If the auto-pilot was on, you would see green annunciators towards the top of the PFD. Depending on what mode the autopilot is in, they would read things such as "LNAV", "VNAV PTH", "MCP SPD", "LOC", etc. I'm sorry to inform you that you most definitely do not fly 737s in "real".
