pdf's is just the type of format.. however.. anything can usually be saved as a pdf.. all sorts of image files.. pdf is just to make it portable and edittable.. but in some cases.. for instance.. if you put a JPG onto that screen and saved it as a PDF... theres no editability to the JPG other than raster, not vector.

i could reproduce this.. for a few seconds of animation.. i could make some facial muscles all morph together pretty easily.. and then render with high shadows and then degrade the video.. i'm not saying its fake, just saying.. it can be done pretty easily for such a short animation.
