great design, highly innovative and fun. however not sure about the noise levels when theres tens or hundreds above a mall.

It looks as though movementis added just by the flaps opening up.

Do you not fix them open because of back pressure on the backs of the.. fins?
JW
Neat design though, i could see malls with those huge flat roofs using that.

if you are going to use hydrolics to buffer the opening of the blades. you could/should try to use that pressure to create more power. either by hydrolics again to push a turbine. or directly attaching geared motors with a locking tooth. like the hinges on expensive home theatre amps, but on motors and one way.

tho hydrolics you can use a resivor tank to allow that quick initial swing and a longer lifetime, tho will bring weight. tho some weight can act as your flywheel maybe ..

..anyhows just ideas. good work.

Dear Larry411,
Your sidewinder wind power generator is quite amazing and very inventive, but I did notice that when the panels would initially open up, if you are actually using momentum in order to generate power from that "sidewinder" generator, then you should either make the generator taller or you should shorten the panels that open (because when the panels originally open, many of the will smack against the floor and this will cause some of the energy to be lost in the system). This is just something that I noticed, and I don't know if this observation will really help at all, but I just thought that I would just tell you this. Well anyway, keep these inventions coming, and keep using recyclable/renewable resources to generate power. Thank you for your time.

thanks again,
Jackson Palmer

As far as the shock system on the open and close a few ideas. I wonder if Lenz law concepts could provide the buffer? This could be fed to a seperatly excited D.C. generator. What do you think?

It will suffer huge mechanical stresses, not to mention huge rattling sound in high-wind.
flashbackfoley| November 25, 2006
cool idea . do you have it hooked up to a generator or battery charger

Interesting concept....

Trying to develop a windmill to be more aesthetically pleasing? You might want to try less moving parts.
