Lots of good custom gaming laptops out there like Avadirect, Falcon Northwest, hell even Asus has some great gaming laptops for the price (G74SX)

To all the people asking if this will fit in their case. For God's sake get a ruler and measure the depth. It'll take 5 seconds i promise.

@downincs321 Agreed. Especially now that you can get a recertified model for around 900 this is absolutely the most dominant gaming laptop in its price range. Who cares about no blu-ray? The matte screen still looks great and most ppl have hdtvs anyway... :P

I have the Best Buy version, took the extra money i saved over the blu-ray/hd model, and added a 256gb crucial ssd. For a little under 1600 i have a laptop that absolutely FLIES. Just make sure you have all the latest driver updates or you'll get low fps in some games like a few that commented on...

Proper 16g setup>Someone throwing an FP Red on an Evo without proper supporting mods. Still miss my big 16g after 10 years...

In all seriousness PC gaming is close to death. Endless patch updates, server issues, games are being made for console platforms FIRST, etc. Shit is for the birds. I'd rather take the "gaming pc" money and spend it on a nice surround sound to go with my 50" led tv.

@Lambo32123 - I also might add that for a couple hundred more i added an SSD and this thing truly flies now. The one main drawback is no 1080p/Blu-Ray.

The Astro A40 system is overpriced for what it is. Sound quality is OK (but good if you've never heard anything other than relatively cheap headsets) and they have cheap build quality. I'd recommend the PC 360 with a separate amp or Beyerdynamics MMX 300 if you have the extra money.

@tj87rich - Absolutely. The best bang for your buck is spending the extra 15 bucks on a 2gb upgrade (assuming the netbook comes with 1gb standard). Made a big difference in speed/video playback. SSD would be the second. Boot up takes about 10 seconds. I also saw extended battery life, the netbook...

WAdude84 is right. This is almost as bad as methodone treatments except for the fact that these patients are getting shot up right in the office.
