Biography of John Alfred Longlott
Filmmaker/Composer, (1966 - ) John Alfred Longlott was born in Reading Pennsylvania, of Canadian and American parents.
He emigrated to Canada in 2004.

Longlott began experimenting with drums, at age 6, and made his performance debut at age 9, with a jazz ensemble.
Throughout his childhood he experimented with sound on sound recorders, and super-8 cameras and projectors, sometimes making his own home-movies.

Longlott studied piano and music theory, and filmmaking but is primarily a self-taught drummer/percussionist, composer and studio engineer/producer.

He has performed extensively in the U.S. and Canada, at New York's CBGB, Toronto's El Mocambo, and at LSPU Hall in St. John's Newfoundland and Labrador.
He has composed works for film and television.

On December 14th 2008, he shot 'FIRST LOVE', his first short film, through NIFCOs First Time Filmmaker Program. Longlott scored the music for FIRST LOVE, and wrote and directed the film.
'FIRST LOVE' has been submitted to various festivals in Canada, and was well received at the NIFCOs November 09, First Time Filmmaker Screening.

FIRST LOVE recently won the prestigious Royal Reel Award, for filmmaking excellence at the 2010 Canada International Film Festival, in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

John Alfred Longlott proudly resides in St. Johns Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
