Design and Function Inspires Lansing Landmark

287 views 4 weeks ago
This week crews are installing the glass exterior on the Gannon Building at Lansing Community College. The project is part of the Build Forward initiative at LCC to design the best experience for students. Designed by the Chicago-based Krueck & Sexton Architects, the expansive exterior will become an instant Landmark in the Capital City. LCC President Dr. Brent Knight says the glass work was inspired by the award-winning Spertus Institute building at 610 S. Michigan Avenue in Chicago, located near the Art Institute. The glass exterior of the Gannon Building is facing Grand Avenue. Inside the space will serve as a vast, high-tech, student commons area that will include a full-flavored food court featuring national brands that will be open to serve both students and the community. For more on the project visit www.lcc.edu/buildforward.

Student Affairs staff has begun serving students in another newly renovated area of the building that was recently completed called the StarZone, a hub for all student needs. The commons area will be open in August with limited food service and project will be completed in October 2014. Show less

Lansing Community College awards over $1 million dollars in scholarships annually. These students are struggling to afford access to the education that will change their lives. With your help we can meet the needs of these students trying to achieve their dreams and contribute to our community's strong workforce.

A lack of financial resources should not be an obstacle to education for anyone. Our goal is to make higher education possible for students so that they can make a positive impact on their lives, families and the communities they live in.
