Dedicated to helping the families of firefighters injured or killed in the line of duty, The Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund was founded 104 years ago by L.A. City firefighters.

Most firefighters are reluctant to ask for help, but need assistance because tragedy has left them in severe financial turmoil. The fund helps widows pay rent, buy clothing for their children or put food on the table.

It also assists disabled firefighters suffering from burns, wounds, lung problems and job-related cancers. Many firefighters have been exposed to all sorts of harmful fumes, toxins and chemicals while simply doing their job. Several have passed away far too young, leaving spouses and children with no husband, wife, father, mother or financial provider. After tragedy strikes, families also need a wide range of emotional support and guidance.

Founded on the principals of camaraderie, brotherhood and sisterhood, the Widows Orphans & Disabled Firemens Fund considers each person in need a member of the firefighter family.

SUPPORT, DONATE, VOLUNTEER

Our many wonderful volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization and the key to achieving our goals. The BOOT BRIGADE is a collection of volunteers dedicated to raising money for the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemens Fund.

These amazing people share their time and talents to collect donations, secure raffle and auction prizes, solicit food and beverage sponsors and volunteer at a variety of events and fundraisers.

Events include the annual LAFD Golf Invitational, the Lane Kemper Softball Classic, the Hope for Firefighters cook off and muster game competition, the Athletic Club Handball and Poker Tournament, the Firefighters Bowling challenge and many others.
