Carsten Kurpanek was born 1976 in Würzburg, Germany. He worked as a tax officer for six years until he decided to quit his job to study Film Studies at the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany. While he studied the aesthetics, history and theory of film he became more and more eager to put his theoretical knowledge into making movies. In 2005/06 while studying abroad at Ball State University, Muncie, IN, USA, this dream finally became true. In November 2005 he directed his first short film, "Digital Age". Since then he has directed five other short films and worked as an editor on other projects. Carsten will graduate in Germany with a M.A. in Film Studies in July 2007 and hopes that one day he can make his passion for film into his profession.
