KulaHig (Kultura, Arte at Himig). This was spearheaded by a group of visual and performance artists from Tacloban City, Leyte, with a burning passion of reviving, and enriching the heritage and culture of the Waraynons in the Eastern Visayas, and of the Filipinos, in general.
They started instantaneously as an ethno-tribal group a couple of years back under the name of Rasa Moda, later on as Asug, and now KulaHig (Jan 2006) with the addition of new members that adds up a vibrant, stimulating sound and a mellifluous flavor to what the group previously had.
Drawn together in reviving the music of our progenitors, KulaHig gets its inspiration and creates music through the senses: what the tongue tastes, what the eye sees, what the nose smells, what the fingers touches, and what the heart feels. With these and the aesthetic, pure comprehension of KulaHig, the conception of its music oozes naturally of ardor, spirit, and love of its ethnicity, its heritage, its environment, its people, and its supernatural adherence as a Filipino.
