About Me:
This is Orsi Kozma's second album with this group entitled Embrace, which is apparently telling us a fascinating jazz-tale, which is sure worth listening!
The word that best captures the very essence of the brand new album of Singer Orsi Kozma and her Quartet is 'harmony'. A familiar voice, an exciting album and refined superb jazz -- this is Embrace.
The new album of the Kozma Orsi Quartet should by now be the most recent gem of jazz connoisseurs' collections.
This album is richer and much more refined than 'Hide and Seek', the formation's firstborn, which became a Fonogram Award nominee immediately upon its release in 2008 and has also been released in Japan in 2010.
A guest musician contributing to this album is world famous saxophonist Tony Lakatos, who was the first Hungarian performer to achieve resounding successes on jazz stations in the USA.
MEMBERS OF THE BAND:
ORSI KOZMA - jazz singer
Unmistakeable,'benchmark' voice in jazz in Hungary.
She became famous and beloved by her fans as a member of the bands Cotton Club Singers and Jazz+Az. She also participated as a guest star with the 9:30 Collective and with Gábor Presser, along with some film and theatre work. Last two years she performs as a solo-singer and with the Quartet.
GÁBOR CSEKE -- piano, keyboards
Born in Pécs, Southern Hungary, Gábor Cseke also features in the bands of Sramkó János and Horgas Eszter, among others. He also teaches music at a music school in Kőbánya and a regular piano accompanist at the Hungarian Radio's jazz competitions.
VIKTOR HÁRS -- double bass, bass guitar, baritone guitar
One of the most invited double bassists, bass guitarists, composers and lyricists, Viktor Hárs plays in his own band (the HársHegyBand) and is also a contributor to Eszter Horgas's band. He has worked with an impressive circle of foreign and Hungarian stars, including Al Jarreau, Trilok Gurtu, Peter Ersikne, Al Di Meola and Hobó.
CSABA PUSZTAI - drums, percussions
A popular jazz drummer and Latin percussionist, Csaba Pusztai is a permanent member of Zoltán Zana's Quartet. A percussionist, he is also a member of Péter Kuzbelt's Showder Band, among others, at the Ricardo Salsa Club.
