The Morrigan was a goddess of victory and prophecy, but she was also promiscuous, mating with a number of gods and heroes. Morrigan had sexual intercourse with the Dagdha, the great tribal god, whilst she stood astride a stream. This is an act of sovereignty, which caused the land to prosper.
Morrigan allied her role, as a destroyer was that of a prophet of doom: she was the "Washer at the Fjord".
