For many years Salty has been one of the favorite lures for fishing sea trout in Scandinavia. It will cast far and it can be fished in very shallow water if needed. It is also equally efficient at all times of year: Lots of trout's exceeding five kilos have been caught on Salty's fished at high speed during summer nights, and even more big trout's have been caught in wintertime when this lure is fished at a slow but varied speed.

This is a video from one of many good days of fishing with the Magic Minnow Mini Goby. When big trout's are feeding in shallow water this small lure is great... And in early spring when trout's are feeding on goby fry in the fjord areas it might be the best lure ever made for this kind of fishing! Mini Goby was designed by lure maker Tom Schmidt.
"By creating Mini Goby I achieved to make a very light trout lure able to cast great distances, Still it has a great action that will turn on really big trout's.
The lure can be fished close to the surface and has proved to be a real killer for my favorite fishing discipline -- trout stalking for fish that are surface active during the summer nights. Still the lure is catching lots of fish throughout the season.
So far my biggest trout's caught on Mini Goby both took the scale to exactly 6.5 kilos"!

The rolling action of Westin Platypus is deadly to most predators. It's no secret that big pikes were the main targets in mind when designing this lure, but perch seems to love them as well. The latest choking report comes from Henrik Lützen from the Danish shop Predator Sportsfishing who was on the water at the end of last week:
"I had a super day of fishing, says Henrik. We were targeting pig pikes and caught several with the two biggest around seven kilos, but the big surprise of the day was not the pikes!
We were trolling the lake with four rods out -- one of them with my last Parrot Special colored 57 g Westin Platypus. During the day 25 fish were caught in total and out of these nothing less than 18 were caught on the same rod. The rod with the Platypus! As I mentioned there were other big predators than pike around. Three monster perch were caught. The two "smaller" ones where 1.7 and 1.8 kilos and the biggest measured 47 cm and had a weight of 2.1 kilos! It was --of course -- caught on the Platypus lure. This trip is far from the only time I see this lure outperform everything else, and I'm just sorry they were sold out and this was the only one I had left."
Henriks huge 2.1 kilo lake perch is by far the biggest we have heard of, since the new lure arrived in the shops, but it is far from unusual that perch from 700 grams and up attacks this lure. We were actually able to film it when a 800 g perch attacked underwater and was caught by 5 years old Christian Eldor. Spend a minute to watch the entertaining video!

In muscles, stamina, strength and size nothing comes close to the Bluefin Tuna. For many years the waters out of Prince Edwards Island in Nova Scotia was the place where these brutes gathered to feed on herrings and mackerels but then they more or less disappeared for decades. Thanks to strict commercial restrictions and management the monster tunas are back! Bluefin's exceeding 1000 and even 1500 pounds visit these waters and a carefully managed charter business is allowed to take sports fishermen out on the ultimate adventure -- to challenge a giant Bluefin!
Thomas Petersen from kineticfishing.com and three of his friends took up the challenge and caught four Bluefin's over 1000 lbs!
