The Peasalls disappointed me as they got older. They were so angelic when they were little but now....both their image and music just somehow leave me wishing for something a little different. I think they've got a little too much of a Dixie Chicks vibe going, or something. IMHO.

Well Vestal certainly got over her aversion to makeup when she got older. I wonder how old she is here? I'm not bashing her, though, I love her singing.

They should have cast a better grandmother for this video. There are so many sweet looking old Southern ladies, but this one looks mean and crazy. Sorry but that's just what I think.

The whole Gregg and Cher album ROCKS and I wish I could buy it on CD. Loved it then, love it now. I bet it would sell like a mutha if you could buy it new today.

This has been my favorite song of Gregg's for many years. Never dreamed one day I'd have a car that I could permanently load the song into. I still play Laid Back in my car all the time. But I recently heard this song was written for Cher. :-( Blehhh. Not sure that was something I wanted to know.

This is one of the first songs I remember. My mother theorized it was a baby they threw off the bridge. What gets me is the idea of the family sitting around casually discussing his suicide over lunch when clearly it means something HUGE to the narrator (singer), but she just sits there...numb......

OMG go listen to Lynyrd Skynyrd do this song properly. This utterly sucks.

All respect to Skynyrd, I am a big fan, but this is just a suggestion...if you're liking this, go back and give a listen to Atlanta Rhythm Section doing "Doraville" or "Georgia Rhythm." Great guitar work in that band also, if you like Southern rock.

This is kind of strange. Rather than being completely outraged by this kid or the mother either, I notice how the boy is able to go toe-to-toe in arguing with her. He didn't learn that in a day. He's arguing with her like an equal, like they're on a level playing field. Odd.

Wow, what a disappointing video. I was throwing away some old tapes and made a list of songs to add to my playlist instead, but this thing is ridiculous. OK, she's a pretty girl and has luscious lips, but they make her look 10 years old and SO un-sexy. Flat chest, ugly clothes, overdone lip-synch...

I appreciate people TRYING to tell the lyrics but I wish they would know for sure before they post them. I keep seeing the same error in every version of this song so let me set you straight. He says "when I was trying to get A TIP at Subway." And then he says "This is for DECATUR" (his hometown)...
