You really need to release you hands (forward!) when you go over a jump. Being on a horses face while jumping is very uncomfortable for them. Both during the take off and landing. That can make them not want to jump. Just some advice. Good to see you perservere and keeep going though :)

@Barrelracer4life8 -No, you are not at all too big for her. My stepdad is 5'8 220lbs and his horse is a 14.1 hand quarter horse mare. (Pony size!) &she is just fine carrying his weight. She is pretty stocky (bulldog) built too. Horses are very strong , don't worry about it :)

None of you are correct actually. Horses natural gaits are walk,trot,canter. Western or english (unless gaited). The terms walk,jog,lope only apply in western showing, and showing only. They mean the same thing though.

Western people post all the time? If your horse isnt smooth, why wouldnt you? It's bad for their backs to have you bouncing up and down. If you have a western show horse, you don't post, cause theyre smooth and slow.

*dont have a problem with western or barrel racing. And i know that western horses can do more than barrel racing. So can english horses. My aunt and uses her Thoroughbred jumpers to do team penning and she heals off them.

Its not a saddle pad, its a bareback pad, see the girth on it? The purpose is to make the ride for comfortable if the horse has high whithers, if you dont wanna get your but all dirty, or you want a little something to hold on to.
