Very hard to decide but it probably comes down to either Burmese Days or Keep The Aspidistra Flying both are written by George Orwell and both are amazing books almost no one has read.

like you really know how the cities in the U.S.A became so much more violent, criminal, gang filled, after civil rights?
just about everyone in the U.S.A knows that in the 1950's U.S.A cities were quite safe
by the 1970's - 80's just a matter of a few years after civil rights the U.S.A cities became horrible with gangs, murder & crime
