About this user
"Kemetian Warrior" is the meaning behind the name Khem Na'khi, whose calm demeanor and backseat approach would give off the impression that he has never seen or experienced war. The saying, "Never judge a book by its cover," suits this situation well, for Khem Na'khi is an unwritten book drawing near its suspenseful climax. It's been almost a decade since he took on the name, which came about while reading books dealing with the great wonders of ancient African civilization. Just like a page out of a fictitious book, once the name was chosen, it was like magic, everything from perception to reality began to transform. As with any transition, it seems as if life has to take a turn for the worst before the light shines at the end of the tunnel.
As an outspoken and rebellious spirit, Khem Na'khi has always channeled this energy through writing and music. His ability to articulate words and vividly paint portraits with "fresh air" brings that same notion to the forefront and gives him a great advantage among those who follow suit for unjust reasons.
Since his start in 1995, it took some time for Khem Na'khi to find his voice within music. It wasn't until 1999 when another aspiring artist, Young Lac (William Mokoko), heard Khem Na'khi's music and invited him to feature on his debut album "Million Dollar Mouthpiece". Backed by Dallas's own legendary record label, In-finiti Productions, and producers, Roddy Rod and Uni-C, Khem Na'khi thought that this was his shot at stardom. However, the focus and financial backing was reserved only for the "Million Dollar Man".
After the release of "Million Dollar Mouthpiece", Khem Na'khi slowly faded to the background and began planning his debut. However, the fear that he lacked experience and depth prompted him to delay his efforts and focus on finding himself. This endless journey would not only give Khem Na'khi the experience, but the insight and ability to make his dreams a reality.
In 2005, Khem Na'khi was introduced to MySpace, Blogger, and podcasting, which opened the door for him to showcase his writing abilities, voice his opinions about things that he felt mattered, and market himself to a global audience. Being exposed to various philosophies, sciences, religious and spiritual teachings, history, revolutionary militias, and "conspiracies", would help and hinder Khem Na'khi. Eventually he became a prisoner to his own thinking, which caused him to further distance himself from society and created mental illnesses that he would later have to combat.
This led him to move to New York in 2007. After a month of homelessness in the middle of winter and walking the streets of the Bronx with $1,000 in his pocket, he was either clueless or determined to "make it in New York". Being around the creative, diverse, and fast paced energy of the "Rotten Apple" was pure euphoria for Khem Na'khi and it sparked a flame within him to contribute and compete in the aggressively competitive market. Becoming an insomniac, he spent day and night giving life to the "Starving Artists Are Dead" Movement, which spawned out of a desperate attempt to finally free himself of the mental ills that plagued him. From this movement, he is credited as being one of the first people to produce an audio magazine (FREE DOWNLOAD; www.starvingartistsaredead.bandcamp.com ) that would feature articles about the future of music and showcase some of the best aspiring musicians in New York City.
After four years of an on and off again relationship with the movement, Khem Na'khi decided to call it quits with the Starving Artists Are Dead fling and go within himself to present something to the world that would allow him to bare his soul. After years of trying to become something he was not, Khem Na'khi created his company, "Where Warriors Walk", and decided "Calligraffiti Express" would be the first "experience" he would release.
The calm demeanor and backseat approach has run its course and Khem Na'khi's back is against the wall once again, fighting to resist. Hiding and suppressing feelings with a smile and distancing yourself can only last for so long. Your soul will find a way to manifest those feelings and you will have to confront yourself one day. The warrior within Khem Na'khi has spoken. It's encouraging him to be more outspoken and rebellious and assuring him that now is the time for him to rise to the occasion, dispel the mental illness that have taunted him, and unleash the loving war within him for the world to embrace.
