My name is Stephen and I started picking up piano in 2008 when I was 19 years old. I know, kind of late right? I always had an interest in learning the piano when I was younger but I never got to it until I noticed the pianos in my college dorm and campus music building. After hearing some friends play the piano, I was motivated to learn the piano as well!

How did I learn piano?

The Internet. In the beginning, I was not sure if I wanted to make a real hobby out of piano, so I didn't feel like spending money on a teacher, and so I asked my friends as well as searched online for content that would facilitate my learning in music, such as reading sheets and understanding some basic concepts of music theory. Learning by myself is a great, on-going process, but I feel that the one thing I am lacking the most, is my technique, which probably can only be taught by an actual instructor.

Why YouTube?

To share my experience. Since I am not proficient in sight reading, I memorize the songs I learn instead. This creates a problem. Unless I practice all the songs that I have learned frequently, I will slowly start to forget them. After learning more and more songs, I started forgetting a few, and so I decided to make videos of every song I learned, so that not only would I be able to listen to songs that I have learned way back, but I would also be able to measure my growth in piano and share my learning with all of you!

This channel has become my on-going "project" and I will continue to release songs as I learn them. If you are interested in my future videos, please subscribe! :)
