Family Journeys Play

On Saturday, February 19, "Family Journeys: The Migration of African Americans to the Bay Area and Inter-Generational Dialogue" was held at the Berkeley Black Repertory Theater.

Organized by Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson, a panel featured Dr. Oba T'Shaka, former chair of the SF State Africana Studies Department; Pastor Dr. Martha Taylor, Elmhurst Baptist Church, and Betty Reid Soskin, Outreach specialist of the Rosie the Riveter WWII/Home Front National Historical Park. The panel was moderated by Davey D.

Two intergenerational dialogues -- one hosted by Salih Muhammad and Achebe Hoskins, and a second by Pendarvis Harshaw -- brought together youth and elders to talk about family and identity.
