Persaud goes through several reasons why black men do this...i have to wait until i get back to review the book cuz i'm on spring break but the main one is that BLK WOMEN, throughout history, have been degraded, raped, used, disregarded, etc... and appear to be the most undesirable to ALL MEN. White men have had their way with blk women since the start of america and the blk man had no say so. However, white women have always been upheld as beautiful, (they have always been protected and untainted)...and as you have said before, what man doesn't want the cream of the crop? The woman who hasn't been used up.

Then other men think that having a white woman will increase their status. You aren't fully a man until you've been with a white woman. And blk women are only "gold diggers", like white women aren't? Black men are so afraid that a black women only wants him for his money that he can't see anything else. Why do you think the ugliest black dark skinned men usually try to marry either a white or very light skinned black woman. For example, Seal and Forrest Whittaker...only to mention a few.

The myth that white women give head better than black women. And how all black men truly believe it. In my class, the white girls were shocked to hear this myth, b/c many of them had never heard of it before. While all the black students were not surprised because we hear it all the time.

For black men, everything has been taken away his entire life: dignity, power, self-respect, and masculinity, the ability to earn a living, and too many times, his freedom as well as his life. He knows that if he leaves the black woman, she will still be there. Where is she going to go? While he ventures off and explores other races, she only wants him. (Speaking for the majority of black women b/c there are exceptions to everything).

Persaud mentions how even the most beautiful blk women in today's culture have been taken by white men and are no longer desirable to blk men. For instance, Halle Berry, in monster's ball. Billy Fucking Bob Thorton (a nasty ass ole white man) was good enough to sleep with HALLE!? and then she was called a n-word in the movie! How wud whites feel if Danny Glover did a movie where he is sleeping with Demy Moore or some other heralded white woman? It wud make her undesirable. The same with the girl from the Cobsy Show.

He talks about how black men even degrade their most prominent women. How in the Barber Shop, they try and discredit Rosa Parks.

Black Women are not respected, they are only seen as sexual bodies...WHY WUD BLK MEN OR ANY OTHER MEN FOR THAT FACT WANT THEM?
