Excellent work. I used to sail in the Thames Estuary and I have found your videos rivetting. Especially as I now live in Sydney Australia. The whole area has a melancholy fascination and I feel like I was back there. Well done matey.

Ah Brightlingsea!

I recall falling out of the Anchor pub as it was then, around 1955, with my father after an alcoholic evening spent with Harold Day the then harbour master. I was only 6 at the time but that didn't stop me sitting at the bar between Harold and the local bobby with a 1/2 pint of bitter and Rothmans cigarette. Yes 6!

We owned a 30' converted lifeboat 'Aloma' that as far as I know sang in the Blackwater somewhere.

I recall the then 90-odd year old twins who use to work the Oyster Smacks and also rowed the clinker ferry boats from the hard at Brightingsea across to Point Clear....the old timber James Yard building beside the jetty.... and my canoe being squashed by a car on the hard beside the 'mine'.

Happy days!

I'm enjoying the trip around England or UK. There are similarities between New England USA. where I live and England, imagine that !

When will you have the video from the Walton Backwaters up? - I happen to be working on Horsey Island at the moment, and know the area fairly well now.

I really enjoyed the videos... my favourites were the barge and gaffer races... just loved it. I have to say, though, that the camera work, especially in the visit to the fort, made me seasick...hee-hee! Anyway, I don't know if your itinerary included sailing the Scottish coast, but I was hoping you'd get up to bell rock lighthouse.... I wanted to see you sail past it : ) Well, thanks for the wonderful videos!
