Mom likes to tell me how even when I was younger, I always was interested in different noises. Evidently I was a very curious kid...
I first started putting songs together in Music Ace! I'm not sure how good they were cuz that was a long time ago and we've upgraded computers since then... but I'm pretty sure that was my first attempt to make electronic music. xP
Next I tried Garageband! I put together a cover thingy of Carol of the Bells, which was my favorite Christmas song back then (I like more minor key stuff), and I think I might've tried making my own stuff... but I didn't really finish anything AND I forgot!
Dad liked the stuff I made and got me a macbook pro laptop, a big ol' m-audio keyboard, an ensemble device... thing, and a copy of Logic Pro(!!). I started Squeak on August 29th, 2009 (it was just called Techno Song at the time cuz I'm imaginative like that!) and finished it about a year later... not that it really took me that long, I just have a bad work ethic and I'm working on that (but slowly... it's a vicious cycle, y'know?)! @_@
I've got a bunch of old unfinished songs lying around, so I'm thinking the more I finish, the more I'll learn, and the more new ones I'll start, and the better it'll all sound and I dunno that's just exciting for me *waves arms wildly* O_O
Soyeah! I hope you enjoy my stuff... I'm not really sure what genre it is, so if you know tell me! Cuz I find electronica genres can get pretty specific and it's intimidating xP

I am a strange 16-year-old (I'm gonna have to remember to update my age every year... Dx) homeschooler girl person! I grew up for the most part in Washington, DC, in a not-particularly-nice part of town that got super revitalized (we lived a block away from that new DC USA mall thing, so that was fun for about 6 months until the rent raised and we had to move [but boy that was fun! I could go to the Rita's or the Starbucks or the other Starbucks {there were two... one was inside the mall, and the other was across the street from it} or the Target and it was all within walking distance!] but then, even before all the new stuff got built, we'd had a CVS and a 7-11 and a metro, all within two blocks away [yeah my use of these parenthesis things isn't perfect, but I don't care! Dx]) ...what was I talking about again? ~.^
OH YEAH! So we lived in a really nice place and sometimes we'd all hop on bikes and zoom down to, say, the bank, and one time one of the bikes was broken (or something) and I had to roller-blade while everybody else was on bikes... o.o
And we'd drive to Blockbuster and 7-11 and some pizza place and then just watch movies until 3 am or so, and fall asleep in the living room...
...anyways, good times! After the rent raised we moved to Cheverly, MD, which was boring and I shall not speak of it =_=
Then we moved to Herndon, VA! Which is where we are now. And it's a really nice house! And the surroundings are so peaceful.. and dark... maybe that's a suburbia thing but you walk outside and hear nothing but insects! And you look out back and see lots of trees! I guess that's normal for some people but I dunno, it feels weird for me cuz it's so peaceful! In DC sometimes you'd hear gunfire across the street, or sirens or just cars, or I dunno, a motorcycle or something.. it's been a while ~_~
Anyways, the feeling of quiet + peaceful + insects almost has an exotic feeling to it, since it was only like that at Stone Harbor (New Jersey), or my cousin's house or Granny's house... which is why this house reminds me so much of Stone Harbor, I guess! Which is great, cuz I love Stone Harbor! ^.^
However.. I think after a while it might grow boring 8P
I really do miss DC, now that I think about it... the weird thing is I grew up in a really amazing place, but I didn't have enough experience to appreciate it. Cuz y'know, when you've lived one place all your life you just figure "This is how it is", and it doesn't cross your mind that maybe other places don't have so much going on. Which is why you find yourself, when you're visiting your cousin, falling asleep and thinking "Wow, it's so peaceful and quiet here! I wish my place was like this..."
Which brings us to... one of my goals is to get enough money to be able to afford living in DC again! ^.^
Maybe I could buy our old house or something.. that would be awesome! But first I gotta actually make an electronica album.. so I'm working on that 8P
Anyways, I hope you've enjoyed my rambling... and even if you didn't, and you still read this far, CONGRATS! YOU GET A COOKIE!
So there you have it! This has been A Small Peek Inside Katie's Brain. Exit through the clearly-marked doors at the back, and don't leave too much popcorn and trash everywhere. Incidentally, this is the only movie theater that's actually warm... mostly cuz it's imaginary, but why are movie theaters so cold anyway? @_@
Have a nice day!
