I originally made this channel to help other adoptive mothers who were trying to navigate the waters of styling and caring for hair that was different from their own. I am so happy that so far, many people, not just adoptive parents, have found my videos to be helpful. I do not claim to have any expertise, just a few years of trial and error. I love doing my girls hair and I hope to help others enjoy it too!
About Me:

I am always changing the products I use as I learn new things. I try to be as natural as possible with out spending an outrageous amount of money. We are keeping it pretty simple right now using only TW products and straight coconut oil.

Current hair routine for V:
Wash and condition with Taliah Waaijid products in between styles. (usually every 3 to 4 weeks) Then rub in coconut oil while still damp. I don't use gel anymore when I style and the style stays looking nice just as long. Sometimes I use a little coconut oil on my hands while I am braiding. Spray style daily with Taliah Waajid protective mist bodifier.

Current hair routine for B:
Spray locs every morning with Taliah Waajid protective mist bodifier (this helps them to lay nicely after being slept on and keeps her hair moisturized) Wash hair once a week with Taliah Waajid shampoo and conditioner. Run coconut oil through locs after washing. When she showers in between washing she gets her hair wet, but we don't wash it, she just rinses it well and then we put in the coconut oil after.

I am so impressed with your videos! I just had to comment and tell you thank you for the great instruction. I am a white mom with a mixed son who loves having braids in his hair and I have tried several times to braid it for him but it just never looked right. Since watching your videos, I have tried again and although not perfect yet, it is definately much better and on the right track. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks so much for publishing the videos and for taking the time to teach others.

Yes I really leave the braids in that long and they look great most of the time. But that is only with V's hair. Before B had locs her hair would look a mess after a few days and I could only leave her cornrows in for a few weeks. I don't know the secret - maybe the coconut oil?

You are doing a wonderful job...I have gone on this hair journey with you. I am black and had twin daughters and had no clue how to braid. After looking at your detailed videos I learned a lot.

2 Questions: What do you believe your true secret for hair growth is?
Does your daughter's hair really stay in that long. I do my daughters hair every two weeks?

Good job...these are just questions...I think you are doing a wonderful job! Thanks for sharing!

She is so cute!! She has a good grain of hair, cause it's easy to braid and it stays together very well!! I love when childrens' hair is like that (without chemicals) You are doing a very good job in her hair and love that you are braiding her hair and the style that you are giving her!! Keep up the good work with the beatuiful young lady!! She is blessed and so are you!!
