Eclectic and raw in his passion, yet refined in his execution: this is what describes Berg Beaugé (pronounced Beau jay). Formerly known as Iceberg Slim, Berg was originally based in a more street themed style of hip hop, but has grown as an artist, and songwriter. Berg's turned the page to a fresh, universal sound. From performances opening for acts such as Chamillionaire and Papoose to lending his voice to antiviolence PSA initiatives, Berg looks forward to creating more opportunities for his future.
In May of 2010, Berg appeared on LeDrew Live(CP24) to tell his inspirational story. Recognized for turning his life around after a decade spent in and out of prison, Berg talked about his new path as a recording artist. Recently, Berg has collaborated with Blake Carrington, Junia T, JR Mint, and Erupt CMD as well as Rich Kidd. They all appear on his forthcoming mixtape Miami Dreaming and untitled EP. Both projects are slated for early 2011.
Teaming up with his cousin Ethics Gallardo to form the collective Cité Soleil, Berg is styled in the mold of a Pharell/Kanye West/T.I fusion. Currently, his goals are to establish The Latisimus Dorsi brand he and his cousin have created, along with future plans for a Beaugé clothing line.
"Dreams are meant to be lived," says Berg. "I'm living mine."
