Originally from Glasgow in Scotland, Producer/Director Sandy Crichton has a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Conservation. He worked for the BBC Natural History Unit before moving to New Zealand where he graduated from the Post Graduate Diploma course in Natural History Filmmaking at the University of Otago. He went on to work for NHNZ before dedicating himself full time to Karearea: the pine falcon. In 2006 he moved to Auckland to focus on the completion of Karearea/Chance and to further develop Catskill Films, a video production company he set up in 2003. He has worked on a number of other projects, both social documentary and natural history, but the falcons of Otago will always hold a special place in his heart.
