Tormented perform Powermad at the Dieppe Lion's club on March 23, 1996. This was their last gig prior to break up.
Album Releases: Self-Titled EP Cassette - 1992 "No Resurrection" - 2003 "Combustible" - 2004
Biography: In October 1989 four high school metalheads (Larry Leblanc guitar, Gary Gallant vocals, Mike Osburne bass, Allain Roy drums + Gus Arsenault guitars from 1990-1992) from the desolate town of Moncton, New Brunswick decided to form a speed/thrash metal band. Early in their career, Tormented played several gigs in Moncton and quickly gained the respect or envy of the local metal and music community. That respect was then crystallized in 1992 when they released their debut EP. The 5-song demo was an onslaught of pure thrashtastic music in a era where metal was in a dangerous state of exile. It featured razor sharp thrash riffs and leads, a very imposing vocal attack, precise and speedy drumming and an overall uninhibited amount of energy. Following the release the band continued to play local shows, TV spots and opened for Entombed in 1993. While other styles came and passed in the 90s (glam, grunge, indie, alternative, pop-punk), Tormented always stayed true to their brand of thrash metal. Their legacy lasted until 1996 when after a seven year run, the band broke up.
July 2003: A one-time only Tormented reunion show entitled "No Resurrection" took place on July 31st in Moncton NB and became one of the most successful local metal shows in Moncton's history and attracted an audience of old and new fans spanning from Cape Breton Island to Toronto. Since Larry and the singer Gary (now a professional wrestler "Wildman Williams" based out of Calgary) would be in the same town for this event, the pair decided to get together and do vocal tracks for the eight thrash songs. At this point the songs were hopefully going to be released on a new album, something that could have been sold at the "No Resurrection" show as souvenirs. However, a lack of time, money and resources impeded the release of the album.
May 2004: Almost one year after Tormented's official swansong show, and after months of mixing and production efforts, summer 2004 is here and so is Tormented - Combustible, the album eight re-recorded Tormented songs and as a bonus on the album Larry has also included 5 songs from his new project entitled "Dead Reach".
Combustible was the final nail in Tormented's coffin and sealed the groups legacy as a Maritime metal act.
Members: Larry LeBlanc - Guitars Gary Gallant - Vocals Mike Osburne - Bass Alain Roy - Drums
Gus Arsenault - Guitars (from '91 to '92)
