I believe what he is saying is that half of a person success in life is winning the battles (arguments, etc) you fight. The other half is, knowing what battles are worth fighting and when swallowing your pride is better, regardless of how right you may be.

I'm conflicted. I remember the good old rivalry between SIU and Creighton. The animosity shown towards Korver was unbelievable. On one hand, he was one of the great antagonists of SIU basketball. But, on the other, he plays for the Bulls now. :)
