When I was little my father bought me a pair of walkie talkies. I started thinking about it as to how does it carry your voice from one place to another, and why is it over just a 100 yards, why not a 100 miles. Then in mid 90's, he found a Motorola GP300 in New York and gave it to me. Thus I ended me up in the hobby.

From 2002 to 2005 I searched the net for CB's and sometimes came across certain retailers, such as Walcott CB, Bells CB, who were selling 10 Meters radios. By reading fine writing that said FCC license was required, I thought to myself that this must be the real thing since its operation requires a federal license - always wondered how to get one. I looked up FCC website several times but found no relevant information or articles. Early 2008, I reached K7AGE's YouTube channel and asked for his advice. He steered my to the ARRL website where I bought the licensing manual for home study. Got my first ham ticket in June 2008, recently upgraded to General.

I'm on 146.52 or K2PUT repeater in New York City. My radio never switches off over the weekends. Just purchased Icom's commercial radio IC-F5021 (latest model). It kicked in into the market in Nov '09. A video on it's programming is coming soon. Please come visit again.
