@1965 Caliente The cowls are solid , I knew to check that from a mistake I made buying a 65' Mustang that was rotted out. Which I did not discover until I started replacing the floor pans. The frame rails are solid , the worst part on the outside body is the lower rh 1/4 panel behind the rear wheel. Which is completly rusted out all the way up to the alumn. trim , this was a 289 , 3 speed auto car, with a 2.80 gear 8" rear. I'm in Chattanooga Tn, and have seen rusted out, & stripped cars with no glass listed for $800 and up. It will be about a year from now before any rear progress is noticable , will be fixing all the mechanical stuff first , body 2nd. Everybody overlooks all the the work that's not obvious. I will try to throw together a video of the 65' Stang I had, but don't think I have enough pics left to do it.

Glad to see another 65 Comet getting video time. I have two of them and am learning the hard way where they rust. I would pull those front fenders and check the cowl. The drains clog and rot out the floor of the cowl, allowing rain to seep to the floors. Other way is to peak underneath the dash behind the air vents. My one has some cancer there even though the exterior looked fairly solid. Lower quarters and trunk extensions on mine were rough but still with metal to work with. Floor was bizarrely intact except for patches here and there. 2nd was original 4 bbl with solid quarters, frame rails, but floor's trashed. I don't want to look at the cowl after getting surprised with other one. Your quarters look very good, though, and you got a BARGAIN. Paid $1k for my California quarters! Didn't catch what state you're in.
