A Broken Frame is still my favorite DM album, even to this day. I know that over the course of time, bands evolve and change the way they make music, but I prefer Depeche Mode just the way they are right here, purely a synthesizer band with no other instruments except the running tape loop with b...

I Start Counting - Catch That Look
Promotional Video
Its easy to see where Martin Gore drew a lot of his influence from. I've heard and seen a lot of Depeche Mode videos that have the feel of Catch That Look. And that's a compliment because I love DM.

I Start Counting - Million Headed Monster
Promotional Video
These guys are the absolute innovators of sampling, a technique widely used by so many of the so-called recording artists today. It is unfortunate that none of them ever give proper credit to I Start Counting for it.

Wire German Shepherds Studio Version
Track 2 from Silk Skin Paws single (3" CD release). Perhaps one of my personal favorites from the Mute era, and definitely a top b-side.
Wire is easily one of the most copied, but never credited bands of all-time, along with the likes of Kraftwerk and I Start Counting, or Fortran 5. All are great innovators and never appreciated by the ones who rip off their ideas. IBTABA is absolutely the best album ever recorded by anybody.

Disconnected and bizarre, amazingly cool. And to think, I've been giving credit to I Start Counting for pioneering the sampling technique, but these guys are ten years ahead of them. I'm a fan
