The Rhythmic Eight
Between 1924 and 1932, Bert and John Firman, made over 400 dance band recordings for the Zonophone label. In order to give the impression that Zonophone's roster of artists was much bigger than it actually was, these records were issued under at least twenty-one different names. With their distinctive green labels, the records were the cheap label of the Gramophone Company and sold for 1/6d in 1932. Firman began to use the name 'The Rhythmic Eight' for the smaller groups and between 1927 and 1932, about 250 sides were cut under this name.
