On Nancy's second birthday, we laid out a variety of objects on a table - just as we did for Harvey and Hughie. It's a Japanese tradition - they believe that a child is able to foresee its own future on the second birthday. I learned about this from a hairdresser - she picked up a pair of scissors on her second birthday, so it clearly worked for her! (less info)
