What I hate about people who thank god when they win something, is that it is egotism disguised as humility. They are really saying " god wanted me to win more than he wanted those other guys to win. No amount of anecdotal "testimony" will convince me a miracle has occurred. If it can occur in reality it can be tested. Where are the test results, the double blinded studies for your claims? Do you know what you call a "miracle" that has been proven to occur? Science.

What would evidence of non-existence look like? It would look like the state in which everything you attribute to your claim has a better, much more likely explanation, and that is exactly what we see with god claims.

When you say you will believe in god no matter what, you are proving you don't have or need good reasons to believe. That is an absurd way to think. Every other religion has the exact same number of reasons to believe what they believe - zero. You can't all be right, but you can all be wrong.

@jejune72 you said "So why bother with the people who have faith in something better?" Because it's not better. You believe in a god who know the future, and yet he created mankind knowing most of them would burn for eternity. I don't call that better.

I was raised in the Christian faith, or more accurately, I was indoctrinated to believe without question. Since then I have read a great deal about science, and expanded my knowledge of critical thinking skills. I've tried hard to learn what the best was are to get to the truth. It comes through questioning everything, scientific methods, and testing, not by believing in ancient dogmas written by ignorant people.I enjoy lively debates on the existence of god, pseudoscience, and science.
People ask me why I criticize religion. Because the unquestioned belief in a god is very dangerous. Some people, I know they are the minority, use their belief that god is on their side to do terrible things. Good people usually do bad things. Bad people usually do bad things. To get a good person to do bad things, it takes religion.
Slavery and buying wives were ok in true bible, but I'm sure Santorum doesn't think those "truths" shouldn't change. Such a hypocrite.
