I still remember how it all went down.
Johnny Boy met D Major at a house party back in 05. And these were the first words spoken between the two:
"Nice shades."
"They're prescription," J Boy replied.
With that legendary exchange, Johnny Major was on its way.
Ultimately it took three full years before they actually collaborated with each other, as both were committed to other projects in the meantime.
But when D Major suggested to J Boy that they should have a session in March of 08, the ensuing enthusiasm and energy was apparent. During this collaboration, I held down the bass lines for them.
Over time, they developed some seriously catchy and funky songs which they passed along to Technicolor sound engineer and Junior Achiever guitarist, Dave Fritz.
From there they began to work with mixing engineer Ed Krautner (Avril Lavigne, Sum41, Tom Cochrane) and mastering veteran Joao Carvalho (Sloan, Alexis On Fire, Death From Above).
After several months of preparation and hard work, their debut EP, The Starter Kit is finally here.
