Sad to say, as a Queen's College Student, this legend is incorrect. The bridge was built about 20 years after Newton's death, with bolts and nuts etc. It was rebuilt later, and the nuts/bolts were made more prominent, which may be where the legend comes from, but they were always there

This for me is cash's greatest ever song along with Hung my head.

Cash's voice isn't the best singing voice, but what it is perfect for is slow ballad songs, almost more like stories than songs. For me, Hung my Head and This one are the two which most catch this feel out of all his songs.

I prefer cash's version to Sting's. Speaking as a musician, I recognise that Sting's is a lot more complicated, and perhaps would have taken more skill to write, but I think Cash's version, with the slow ballad story telling feel is much more suited to the lyrics.
