Try boiling rice in the cabbage solution. Use the coloured rice as a bed and try placing a piece of fish in one place, a sclice of lemon in another etc to get some impressive colour changes.

It is good practice to shake prior to complete filling just to ensure that the solution is completely homogeneous.
