Lets break down the name "Joe Blacula" first..... Were you ever aware that the name "Joe" isnt just a name but a title? Fathers expect more from a kid named "Joe". "Joe" is the guy that you can trust to work on your car, re pave your driveway, and lay new shingles on your roof. "Joe" gets up for work EVERY day, laces up his boots, and prepares to get what the world has to give to him. "Joe" isnt a new age "metro sexual" , (Huhh??) he bites his fingernails rather than get a manicure and enjoys cold weather, but doesnt comlain in the heat. "Joe" drinks Budweiser out of the can and during football season, every Sunday is a national holiday. "Joe" doesnt go to trendy night spots downtown where you have to pay to get in, he goes to the corner tavern to throw darts, play dominos and talk politics. "Joe" wears dickies as his own personal fashion statement and represents every blue collar wearing individual. "Joe" isnt just a man, he's a MANS man!!

The 70's blaxploitation character "Blacula", was an African prince that lurked the shadows at night, didn't crave attention or bright lights, and clearly carried the characteristics of the creatute that cursed him, Count Dracula.

These metaphoric entities represent and best describes Jonathan "Joe Blacula" Whitaker. "One of the GREATEST producers ever spawned from the southside of Chicago", is a title and a compliment that Joe Blacula has proudly carried for over a decade. His production is reminiscent of the late, great comedy legend Bernie Mac's humor. Straight up and no chaser, unforgiving and gets in your chest like a heart attack. Now THAT'S serious!! JB is the definition of the title "producer", meaning that there is no production sound or style that he hasn't yet mastered. He's either done it or in the process of doing it. JB started his professional career at Creators Way Associated Labels (CWAL) in 1998 as a assistant engineer / production assistant / chief intern for the Grammy nominated producer The Legendary Traxster. (Po Pimp-Do Or Die, Adrenaline Rush-Twista) During his years at CWAL, JB started crafting hits and fine tuned his already sonic ears to perfecting the perfect song. After experiencing the gold and platinum success of the company and being inside the structured surroundings of CWAL, JB decided to focus more on the sideline talent that had been around him cultivating for years and took a step out on his own. With the assistance of his sister and brother in law, they financially helped JB bring to life his idea of TEPHLON Recordings Inc. and completed the criticcally aclaimed release, "The Conception". This classic compilation included the hits "Retreat" featuring Young Buck, "Step 2 This" featuring A.K. Billionaire from Do Or Die, and "What's really a gangster featuring the Speedknot Mobstaz.

The influence of these great composers are reflected in JB's melodic arrangements and selections.

Joe Blacula brings his vast knowledge of his teenage years of DJing, the culture of Hip Hop, and his love of all music to the table, and it can be clearly heard in his unique, full bodied production. The underdog amongst his production peers, (Please ask someone who knows my music!!) a favorite amongst his fans, JB vows to bring back quality production to the forefront of music. He prides himself in making music the old fashioned way, from scratch!! No pre packaged songs or tracks that have already been made in a music software program needed. Everything that you hear has been made from the ground up from JB. The only assistance that he gets is from quantizing the tracks while they are getting made.
